Do I need a Judogi (Judo Suit) right away?
Not to begin with; for your first one or two lessons a strong, loose sweat shirt and track suit trousers will do. The sooner that you start to use a Judo Suit, the sooner you will advance with the art of Judo.

Why do I need a Judogi (Judo Suit)?
The gi (suit) both offers protection and provides something for your opponent to grip you by.

Where can I get a Judogi (Judo Suit)?
Most sports shops can supply you, or ask your Sensei (instructor) who will be happy to supply you with a good quality Judo Suit at a reasonable cost.

Can I buy a Judogi (Judo Suit) from Asda?
At the time of writing the "judo suit" sold by Asda is not suitable for judo. It has no padding, and is just not strong enough.

How old do I have to be?
Judo training can start at any age from five years upwards.

Is Judo good for me?

Can women & girls do Judo?
Certainly! Male and female competitors train together but compete separately.

I have asthma, can I do Judo?
With all health matters, seek medical advice first and make your Sensei (instructor) aware of your condition. Always ensure that your inhaler is available at the edge of the Tatami (mat). new to asthma is a very good web site on the subject.
