Always obtain permission from Sensei (instructor) before entering or leaving the tatami (mat). |

Always rei (bow) as a sign of respect, when entering, or leaving the dojo or tatami. Always rei to your partner both before and after practicing or demonstrating techniques. |

Only people with clean body’s, hair, judogi (judo suit) are permitted on the tatami. |

Nothing should be worn under the judo jacket by men and boys: women and girls wear a clean, plain T-shirt. Nothing is worn on the feet unless agreed by the sensei. |

Zories (flip flops) must be worn when walking to and from the tatami. |

No jewellery sweets or similar objects are permitted on the tatami. |

Long hair must be tied back with a soft band. All finger and toe nails must be kept short and smooth. |

Judoka, when not practicing, should sit quietly. And in the correct position on the edge of the mat. |

Judo must never be used outside the dojo, unless a serious self defence situation arises. |
